Purdue Tries To Knock Out Generic OxyContin ANDA

Law360, New York (April 13, 2012, 2:04 PM EDT) -- Purdue Pharma LP lodged a patent infringement suit in Pennsylvania on Thursday in an effort to block plans by Varam Inc. and KVK-Tech Inc. to market a generic version of Purdue’s blockbuster painkiller medication OxyContin.

Connecticut-based Purdue, along with its subsidiary P.F. Laboratories Inc. and partner Rhodes Technologies, brought the suit after Varam and KVK sought federal approval of an abbreviated new drug application to make and sell a generic version of OxyContin before Purdue’s four patents had expired.
