Ex-Nvidia Analyst Turned Insider Tips Informer Dodges Jail

Law360, New York (April 12, 2012, 8:36 PM EDT) -- A former Nvidia Corp. financial analyst who traded confidential stock tips with corporate insiders, then turned government cooperator in the case against his co-conspirators, was sentenced to a year of probation Thursday.

Son Ngoc “Sonny” Nguyen, 40, pled guilty in May to taking tips from former Primary Global Research LLC consultant Winifred Jiau and Marvell Technology Group Ltd. manager Stanley Ng, and on one occasion passing along information about Nvidia, a chip maker.
