EU, China Face Off Over Product Safety

Law360, New York (August 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Union's growing alarm over a rash of recalls involving Chinese products is nothing more than thinly disguised trade protectionism, according to a Chinese official.

Chief Chinese safety regulator Li Changjiang told Agence France Presse on Sunday that the EU's decision to block some goods from entering member states is politically motivated.
