Canada Fines Suncor For Gas Price-Fixing Scheme

Law360, New York (April 13, 2012, 6:41 PM EDT) -- Suncor Energy Products Inc. was hit with a CA$500,000 (US$500,200) fine after pleading guilty to participating in a scheme to fix the price of gasoline sold at its Sunoco-brand stations in Belleville, Ontario, Canadian competition authorities said Friday.

The Ontario Superior Court sentenced Suncor to a fine after the company pled guilty to violating Canada’s Competition Act by improperly engaging in price-related communications with a retail partner in 2007, the country’s Competition Bureau said.
