ViroPharma Sues FDA To Block Generic Vancocin Release

Law360, New York (April 13, 2012, 7:56 PM EDT) -- ViroPharma Inc. sued the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in Washington federal court Friday in an effort to block approval of generic versions of the gastrointestinal antibiotic Vancocin, four days after the agency rejected the company's bid for further market exclusivity for the drug.

The suit, which claims the agency's approval of laboratory testing instead of human testing for generic versions of Vancocin violates its own regulations, is the latest development in a lengthy legal battle ViroPharma has waged with the FDA over the testing process....
