$26B Duke Energy, Progress Merger Still On Track, Cos. Say

Law360, New York (April 13, 2012, 9:13 PM EDT) -- Duke Energy Corp. and Progress Energy Inc. have responded to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s request for additional information on their planned $26 billion merger to form the largest energy company in the U.S., saying Friday that they did not expect FERC's request to delay the deal.

The companies said in regulatory filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that they had responded to FERC’s letter and that they expected to close the deal July 1.
