High Court Won't Weigh 'Unclean Hands' In Bulb Patent Case

Law360, New York (April 16, 2012, 5:30 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear an appeal of a suit brought by Geo Foundation Ltd. against Costco Wholesale Corp. and others that asked whether the unclean-hands doctrine allows a federal court to nullify valid patent-property rights asserted by an innocent transferee.

The high court denied the petition for writ of certiorari without stating its reasoning. Justice Stephen Breyer took no part in the consideration or decision of this petition, the Supreme Court said.
