House Dems Blast GOP's Fuel Standard, Gas Leasing Bills

Law360, Los Angeles (April 16, 2012, 8:02 PM EDT) -- House Democrats on Monday ripped two energy bills that would delay implementation of heightened vehicle fuel standards and expand domestic gas leasing, saying Republicans are attempting to exploit concern over increasing gas prices to gut Environmental Protection Agency regulations.

Rep. Henry A. Waxman, D-Calif., said Republican measures increasing domestic oil production wouldn't decrease gasoline prices because fuel costs are driven by demand for crude oil in the global market.
