DOE Budget Chief Defends Agency Spending Hikes

Law360, New York (April 18, 2012, 2:49 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Energy's budget chief attempted to deflect Republican criticisms about increases in the agency's budget Wednesday, saying the funds supported new infrastructure, research and development, and other measures that have benefited the economy and energy innovation. 

DOE Budget Director Christopher Jones told the House Energy and Commerce Committee's oversight panel that a $17 billion increase in the agency's budget over the past 12 years was justified, denying GOP claims that waste and abuse within the agency had bled some of the funds. ...
