BLM Moves One Step Closer To Alaskan Lease Sale

Law360, New York (August 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Bureau of Land Management said Monday that it had completed a draft environmental impact statement on 400,000 acres of wildlife and resource rich land in northwest Alaska that it hopes to lease for oil and gas exploration.

The BLM first began developing the supplement late last year, after a federal judge in Alaska blocked the original lease sale on the grounds that its environmental studies were too limited in scope.
