HHS Calls Out 2 Health Insurers Over Rate Hikes

Law360, New York (April 17, 2012, 1:44 PM EDT) -- U.S. health officials on Monday said Assurant Inc. unit Time Insurance Co. and United Security Life and Health Insurance unreasonably hiked health insurance rates on thousands of customers in six states and urged the insurers to rescind the rate increases.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said Time Insurance unreasonably hiked insurance premiums for 45,000 individual and small group plan customers in Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska and Wyoming by as much as 22 percent.
