Mitsubishi, Mitsui Join Sempra's $6B LNG Export Project

Law360, New York (April 17, 2012, 4:19 PM EDT) -- A Sempra Energy unit has teamed up with Japanese giants Mitsubishi Corp. and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. to develop a $6 billion liquefied natural gas export project in Louisiana, the unit said Tuesday, heating up a race to build the first such facility in the U.S.

Inking commercial development agreements with Cameron LNG, the Tokyo-based companies have agreed to jointly fund design, permitting and engineering expenses for the project, and will also sign on for 20-year tolling agreements for 4 million tons of gas per year,...
