Ala., EPA Sue Oil Cos. Over Storage Facility Leakage

Law360, New York (April 18, 2012, 3:59 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the state of Alabama on Tuesday sued Bessemer Petroleum Inc., Tri-State Petroleum Products LLC and Twin States Petroleum Products LLC over alleged Clean Water Act and Solid Waste Disposal Act violations at a bulk fuel and oil storage facility.

The three companies have all owned the four-acre site in Bessemer, Ala., at one time or another since 1993. Twin States is the current owner, according to the complaint. The site has continually had problems with oil escaping from storage tanks...
