EU Accuses Rambus Of Patent Ambush

Law360, New York (August 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Semiconductor producer Rambus Inc. has become the latest company to find itself in the cross-hairs of the European Commission, after antitrust regulators accused the chip maker of orchestrating a patent ambush.

The Commission said on Thursday that it had sent a formal statement of objections to Rambus in which regulators alleged that the company had failed to disclose that it held certain key patents for Dynamic Random Access Memory chips during the process during which international DRAM standards were established.
