PETA Agrees To Put Down Merck Securities Suit

Law360, New York (April 19, 2012, 5:15 PM EDT) -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have dropped a securities suit meant to ensure Merck & Co. Inc. shareholders would be informed of concerns over the drugmaker's care of animals after a Virginia federal court on Monday rejected the group's requests for preemptive action. 

U.S. District Judge Gerald Bruce Lee ruled against the organization's requests to keep Merck from soliciting proxies for its 2012 shareholders meeting unless it included PETA's proposal, denying motions seeking a temporary restraining order, a preliminary injunction and limited expedited discovery...
