Exxon Cut Out Of New Iraqi Oil Leases Due To Kurdish Deals

Law360, New York (April 19, 2012, 6:24 PM EDT) -- Iraqi officials made good on a threat Thursday to cut Exxon Mobil Corp. out of future oil leases because of the company's Kurdish contracts, releasing a list of 47 qualified bidders for an upcoming auction that does not include the drilling giant.

Earlier this year, Iraq's oil ministry blasted Exxon for inking deals in the semiautonomous Kurdistan region, and told Dow Jones as late as April 9 that the company’s right to bid for future leases was in limbo.
