Brazilian Co. Pursues $6B Hydro Power Plant In Mozambique

Law360, New York (April 19, 2012, 1:59 PM EDT) -- Brazilian utility company Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA is looking to build a $6 billion hydroelectric plant in the northern area of Mozambique, the company announced Wednesday.

The electricity provider, which is also known as Eletrobras of Brazil, said it has begun studying the feasibility of building a 1,500-megawatt plant and two transmission lines in the region, in partnership with local authorities. Preliminary financial and environmental studies on the project should be ready by the end of 2013, according to Eletrobras.
