Bausch & Lomb, Oasis Settle LASIK Patent Suit

Law360 (November 14, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Bausch & Lomb and Oasis Medical agreed to settle a lawsuit involving a patent relating to instruments used in the LASIK refractive laser surgery procedure.

The settlement agreement resolves the patent infringement lawsuit filed by Bausch & Lomb against Oasis in October 2000 in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Under the terms of the settlement, Oasis acknowledges the validity and infringement of the Bausch & Lomb patent. The company will stop manufacturing and selling blades for the Bausch & Lomb Hansatome microkeratome.
