Air Conditioner Maker Fedders Files For Ch. 11

Law360, New York (August 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Heating and air conditioning company Fedders Corp. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for its North American subsidiaries on Wednesday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The Liberty Corner, N.J.-based company said it was applying for bankruptcy protection for 16 of its North American affiliates, in order to help the company restructure and continue operations. Not included in the filing are Fedders' international subsidiaries, including operations in China, India and the Philippines.
