Blue Cross Says Aetna's $2B Antitrust Damages Bid Is 'Stale'

Law360, New York (April 20, 2012, 4:35 PM EDT) -- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan on Thursday moved to compel damage information from Aetna Inc. in an antitrust suit alleging Blue Cross has entered into agreements with hospitals to raise competitors' costs, arguing Aetna has only provided years-old documents to support its $2 billion claim.

Aetna has produced only 24 pages of "stale" seven-year-old documents in support of the claim and refuses to properly explain how it came to the $2 billion amount, Blue Cross says.
