Bar Groups Call On Fed. Circ. To Back Judicial Pay Raises

Law360, New York (April 20, 2012, 4:44 PM EDT) -- A group of bar associations on Wednesday backed a class of federal judges suing for cost-of-living pay raises, arguing to the Federal Circuit that a previous case allowing Congress to block automatic pay raises for judges should be overruled.

The groups filed an amicus brief arguing that Williams v. U.S., which the Federal Circuit leaned on in February to uphold a dismissal of the action, was based on faulty legal grounds and that the full bench should revisit the issue.
