"No Match" Regulation Will Have Monumental Impact

Law360 (August 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- On August 15, 2007 the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) finalized the Social Security no-match letter regulation. With the failure of Congress to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform, employers are now burdened with this enforcement only action.

The SS no-match regulation will take effect on September 14th, 30 days from publication in the Federal Register. DHS stated that this regulation is actually part of an administrative “interim fix” to the broken U.S. immigration system.
