Controversial $3B Coal Plant Gets 2nd Thumbs Up From Miss.

Law360, New York (April 24, 2012, 6:08 PM EDT) -- A $2.88 billion coal plant that is set to be one of the U.S.' pilot sites for a new coal gasification technology regained authorization from Mississippi utility regulators Tuesday, after a state court had vacated an earlier approval.

In a 2-1 vote, the Mississippi Public Service Commission reapproved the continuation of construction on a Kemper County plant being built by The Southern Co. subsidiary Mississippi Power Co.
