Sierra Keeps $3B Coal Plant Fight Alive In Miss. Court

Law360, New York (April 26, 2012, 6:19 PM EDT) -- The Sierra Club's Mississippi chapter filed new motions in Harrison County Chancery Court on Thursday in its long-running opposition to a $2.88 billion coal plant that is set to be one of the U.S.' pilot sites for a new coal gasification technology.

Currently in the process of appealing construction of the plant, the environmental watchdog argued in its latest filing that the Southern Co. subsidiary building the Kemper County-based project should shoulder the financial risks of construction, rather than ratepayers, as the suit winds its way...
