U.K. Trade Mark Registry Warns Against Fee Scam

Law360, New York (November 14, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- U.K. trademark lawyers are cautioning mark owners about a mass mailing of misleading invoices from the "European Institute for Economy and Commerce" that may easily be misconstrued as an official trademark registration fee, the Financial Times reported.

The one-page invoice, for £479.75, prominently displays the holder's trademark details under the banner "Registration in the EIEC Register of Protected Trademarks."
