Medtronic Settles Patent Dispute With Cytomedix

Law360, New York (April 26, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Medical device maker Medtronic Inc. has agreed to settle a patent infringement lawsuit brought by biotech company Cytomedix Inc. by taking a license to use its therapy for wound-healing, Cytomedix said.

Cytomedix sued Medtronic in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland in November, claiming that Medtronic was infringing Cytomedix's patent for a technology that uses the platelets in a person's blood to help the body heal itself.

The technology is used in treating tissue damage or diabetic foot ulcers.
