Senate Announces Investigation Of China Imports

Law360, New York (August 29, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In response to a slew of large recalls of toys tainted with lead and posing other dangers, a U.S. Senate committee has launched an investigation to determine whether the country's safety standards for toys are strong enough.

The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs will evaluate whether the Consumer Product Safety Commission has enough power and resources to adequately examine children’s toys and clothing before they hit the market.
