Epson Targets Printer Aftermarket In Patent Suit

Law360, New York (April 27, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Japanese electronics maker Seiko Epson has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in an Oregon federal court against a French manufacturer and distributor of aftermarket ink cartridges.

The move comes only one month after Hewlett-Packard sued two companies that sell refilled ink cartridges for patent infringement and false advertising.

Epson’s lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, was filed by Epson Portland Inc., Epson America Inc. and Seiko Epson Corp. against France’s Armor S.A, its German manufacturing subsidiary Artech GmbH, and its...
