Sempra Locks In Last LNG Sale Contract For Export Plant

Law360, New York (May 3, 2012, 2:20 PM EDT) -- Sempra Energy will sell 4 million tons of liquefied natural gas to French gas giant GDF Suez SA from its plant in Louisiana, one of two facilities racing to be the first to export U.S. natural gas, the company said Thursday.

With the deal, Sempra now has commitments from three foreign companies to buy all 12 million tons per year from the plant, and moves a key step closer toward sending a glut of U.S. shale gas abroad, where prices are four to five times higher....
