UN, European IP Agencies Look To Streamline Patent Process

Law360, New York (May 3, 2012, 5:41 PM EDT) -- The United Nations' intellectual property agency and Europe's patent overseer on Thursday announced the agencies have agreed to coordinate to improve the organization and administration of international patent application procedures.

In a joint statement, the World Intellectual Property Organization and the European Patent Office said the agencies had entered into a three-year “technical cooperation scheme” in which the patent organizations will work together to improve the Patent Cooperation Treaty process under which international patent applications are pursued.
