Construction Suppliers Settle Failed Venture Fight

Law360, New York (May 7, 2012, 12:51 PM EDT) -- FMT Aggregate LLC agreed Thursday to drop claims in Louisiana federal court that a cement company had leveraged information gleaned from a joint venture with FMT to secure a competing deal with a rival sand and gravel supply company.

U.S. Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown approved a settlement that put to rest FMT's suit, which alleged Baltimore-based Lafarge North America Inc. violated a 35-year joint venture agreement between the rivals when Lafarge reached its own side deal with Martin Marietta Materials Inc.
