Reps. Urge Obama To Protect 'Buy American' Policies In TPP

Law360, New York (May 4, 2012, 3:58 PM EDT) -- A group of nearly 70 representatives sent President Barack Obama a letter on Thursday urging him to protect "buy American" policies in the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement, which will enter its 12th round of negotiations Tuesday.

The letter, led by Donna F. Edwards, D-Md., and Nick Rahall, D-W.Va. and signed by 69 representatives in total, seeks to protect "buy American" provisions, which are at risk of being waived under the current proposed rules for the trade agreement.
