House Drops Potential Snag From FDA User Fee Draft Bill

Law360, New York (May 7, 2012, 4:34 PM EDT) -- The Republican-led House of Representatives health panel working on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration user fee package has dropped a controversial measure that would have made it the FDA's mission to encourage job creation and economic growth, according to a draft bill released Friday.

Dropping the change to the mission statement moves the legislation closer to a bipartisan consensus, something the FDA, the drug and device industries and many lawmakers have said is essential to getting the bill passed before the current user fee programs...
