Ford Dodges $52M Verdict Over Toddler Death

Law360, New York (August 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a boost for Ford Motor Co., a federal appeals court has tossed out a ruling that would have given $52 million to the parents of a little boy killed more than a decade ago after a parking brake allegedly failed to hold, causing the Ford truck to crush the toddler.

On Thursday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit chucked the most recent damages award in the long-standing product liability case, and requested that a new jury rule on the monetary issue....
