Bankruptcy Filings Down 13% Over Previous Year

Law360, New York (May 9, 2012, 1:28 PM EDT) -- Continuing a recent trend, bankruptcy filings for the year ended March 31 were down 13 percent from filings for the same period a year ago, according to a report released Wednesday by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.

The most recent year-long statistics show that about 1,367,000 new cases were filed by the end of March 2012, compared with nearly 1,571,200 filed in the 12-month period ended March 31, 2011.
