Union Sues Murphy Oil To Recover Backpay

Law360 (September 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The United Steelworkers AFL-CIO has flung a lawsuit at Murphy Oil USA Inc., alleging the energy giant has not fully complied with an arbitration order regarding worker backpay and refuses to return to arbitration to resolve the dispute.

The New Orleans-based United Steelworkers AFL-CIO Local 8363 claims in its lawsuit, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, that although Murphy re-hired an electrician it had fired two years before, it has not paid him the backpay he deserves.
