Microsoft Ordered to Pay $63 Million for Patent Infringement

Law360 (November 15, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- A jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia awarded Imagexpo L.L.C., a subsidiary of SPX, $62.3 million in compensatory damages from Microsoft for willfully infringing a patent, SPX said in a statement.

Additional issues remain for the court to rule upon that could ultimately impact the amount of the award, and any final ruling and award by the court is subject to appeal, SPX said.
