Republicans Hit DOI With 2nd Subpoena Over Coal Rule

Law360, New York (May 11, 2012, 7:05 PM EDT) -- The House Natural Resources Committee unleashed a second subpoena against the U.S. Department of the Interior on Friday seeking more information on a probe of the Obama administration’s forthcoming revision of a coal mining rule.

The committee claims the Interior Department has refused to comply with an initial subpoena it sent the agency in early April related to a yearlong investigation of the administration’s plans to replace the Bush administration’s so-called stream buffer zone rule with new surface mining regulations.
