McCain Wants Myanmar Sanctions Suspended

Law360, New York (May 14, 2012, 5:42 PM EDT) -- Sen. John McCain urged the Obama administration on Monday to take bolder steps to increase trade with Asia, including calling for the the U.S. to suspend most of its economic sanctions against Myanmar.

McCain, who also called for bilateral talks with India and Taiwan to compensate for the sluggish pace of the multilateral Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, became the latest and most prominent U.S. lawmaker to recommend pulling back on restrictive measures against Myanmar in response to recent democratic and humanitarian reform in the Southeast Asian nation....
