SEC Majority Against Money Market Regs Won't Kill Issue

Law360, New York (May 14, 2012, 6:46 PM EDT) -- The revelation Friday that a majority of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's top officials oppose tighter regulation of money market funds highlighted a growing concern that more oversight could hurt investors, but it won't put the long-simmering issue to rest, experts say.

Democratic SEC commissioner Luis Aguilar joined Republican commissioners Troy Paredes and Dan Gallagher in denouncing an April 27 report by the International Organization of Securities Commissions, or IOSCO, laying out various reform options for the money market industry.
