3M, Lenovo Settle Over Lithium Ion Battery Patents

Law360, New York (September 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Lenovo Group Ltd. on Tuesday became the latest technology company to settle allegations that it infringed on 3M Corp.'s lithium ion battery patents.

3M revealed that it had reached settlement agreements with two of Lenovo's lithium ion battery suppliers and has thus dismissed Lenovo from the International Trade Commission's ongoing patent investigation.

Lenovo agreed to certify that all the lithium ion batteries it imports into the U.S. contain nickel-manganese-cobalt cathode materials that are manufactured under a license from 3M.
