FERC To Advise EPA On Power Plant Emissions Rules

Law360, New York (May 17, 2012, 7:28 PM EDT) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said Thursday it would help the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency implement new emissions regulations for power plants by monitoring their impact on the electrical grid as the agency phases in the standards.

In a policy statement, FERC said it would advise the EPA on requests from power plant operators seeking extra time to comply with the agency’s Mercury and Air Toxics Standards, or MATS, for power plants.
