Advanced Medical Optics Wins $95M Jury Verdict Vs. Alcon In Patent Suit

Law360, New York (May 7, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Delaware jury has awarded medical device maker Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. $94.8 million in damages in its patent infringement lawsuit against rival Alcon Manufacturing, Ltd. over equipment used during cataract surgery.

The jury also found that Alcon’s infringement was willful, according to AMO.

AMO said it would seek a permanent injunction, prohibiting Alcon from selling equipment with the features that infringed AMO's patents.
