Patent Attorney Kills Head Of Cooper Cameron Patent Division

Law360 (May 7, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A patent attorney shot and killed the head of Cooper Cameron’s patent services division on Thursday before aiming the gun at himself, Houston police say.

Police identified the gunman as 52-year-old Jackie Lee Duke of Houston. He not employed by Cooper Cameron, but had consulted with the firm on occasion, according to sources.

The victim of the attack was 54-year-old Michael Paul Hartmann, who was the manager of the company's patent services division.
