Royal DSM Forks Over $534M For Fish Oil Extract Co.

Law360, New York (May 18, 2012, 2:41 PM EDT) -- Dutch health sciences company Royal DSM has inked a €420 million ($534 million) cash deal to buy Ocean Nutrition Canada to continue its growth-by-acquisition strategy in the nutrition market, the companies said Friday.

The sale is expected to close in the latter half of this year, DSM said, handing over ownership of ONC, which had been split between Clearwater Fine Foods and funds managed by Richardson Capital. After the sale, DSM said, it will have a stronger foothold in the nutritional lipids market.
