Microsoft, Dell Prevail In Computer Patent Dispute

Law360 (September 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appeals court panel has affirmed that Microsoft Corp. and Dell Corp. did not infringe Data Encryption Corp.’s patent covering computer systems that encrypt and decrypt files.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Thursday upheld a lower court’s ruling in August, which granted summary judgment of noninfringement to the Redmond, Wash.-based software giant and the Round Rock, Tex.-based computer maker in Data Encryption’s patent case.
