US' PE Arm Ponies Up $30M For Palestine Business Fund

Law360, New York (May 22, 2012, 6:59 PM EDT) -- The U.S. government's development finance arm kicked in $30 million to the world's first first private equity fund targeting Palestinian companies, giving Siraj Palestine Fund I a grand total of $90 million to invest in small businesses, according to Tuesday announcements.

The 10-year fund, which had an initial target of $80 million, will invest in startups and small- to medium-size businesses in the Palestinian territories, according to parallel statements issued Tuesday by the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corp. and the Ramallah, Palestine-based Siraj Fund Management Co....
