House Dem Pushes Bill Targeting Gray-Market Drug Sales

Law360, New York (May 23, 2012, 12:30 PM EDT) -- A top Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives introduced a bill Tuesday that would strengthen oversight of drug wholesalers that he claims are buying up drugs in short supply and reselling them on a gray market at marked-up prices.

The Gray Market Drug Reform and Transparency Act, authored by Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., would prohibit wholesalers from buying drugs from pharmacies, create a national database of drug wholesalers and require them to provide their state licensing information, and encourage state regulators to provide information about...
