Enviro Rules Could Open 'Golden Age' Of Shale Gas, IEA Says

Law360, New York (May 29, 2012, 6:19 PM EDT) -- The International Energy Agency on Tuesday called on regulators and industry to adopt a set of rules to mitigate the environmental and social effects of natural gas production, saying the move could help usher in a “golden age” for natural gas.

In a new report, the IEA argued a worldwide boom in unconventional natural gas could fail to materialize unless governments, operators and other stakeholders embrace new best practices addressing what the IEA called legitimate public concerns about shale development.
