Enviros Lose Bid To Block Highway Proposal

Law360, New York (May 30, 2012, 2:32 PM EDT) -- A Virginia federal judge on Tuesday tossed an environmental group's challenge to a city-backed proposal to build a highway bypass over the state's 61-acre McIntire Park, saying a federal agency was right to choose the plan over a less intrusive proposal.

Judge Norman K. Moon sided with the Federal Highway Administration, or FHWA, which is providing up to $29 million in federal funds for the project, saying its decision to go with a larger 29-lane interchange plan that could handle future traffic estimations around the popular...
